Sheet Piling
Sheet Piling is commonly used for excavating or to provide protection from bodies of water. Sheet piling is also the most reliable and cost effective method to prevent shifts of soil or breeches of water from damaging the foundation or facility. Shoring System
Shoring is a term used to describe a system that functions to retain earth, water, and adjacent structures when an excavation is required. Shoring design can be a very complicated matter. The designer has to content with many unknowns and factors that influence the behavior of the excavation shoring.
Casing Pile
The casing method is applicable to sites where the soil conditions are such that caving or excessive soil or rock deformation can occur when a hole is drilled. This can happen when the boring is made in dry soils or rocks which are stable when they are cut but will slough soon afterwards. In such a case, the bore hole is drilled, and a steel pipe casing is quickly set to prevent sloughing.[...]
CFA Method
CFA piles are formed by drilling a Continuous Flight Auger into the ground. When the required depth is reached, concrete is immediately pumped into the hollow stem and the auger is slowly withdrawn (the sides of the hole are supported at all times by the soil filled auger). Reinforcement is then inserted immediately after the auger is removed. This is an ideal solution for unstable ground containing gravel, sand or silt.
Static Load Test
The static load test (SLT) involves the direct measurement of pile head displacement in the response to a physically applied test load. It is the most fundamental form of pile load test and is considered as the bench-mark of pile performance. Testing has been performed in the load range 100kN to 12,000 kN. The SLT may be carried out for the load configurations : Compression, Lateral, Tension (i.e. uplift).
